Always Be There Page 4

Reese placed her hand on Dr. Naples arm for support along the stroll on the hospital’s garden. This was the favorite place in the hospital of Reese. She felt she was almost there, near to the front gate of heaven and to God. Powerless, without strength, she could barely support her own self with her feet.

They talked a lot about Adam, about the band and all the happy moment in her life. How grateful she was to go that far.

‘He’s a perfect and amazing guy. You know. We could chat about everything from movies to celebrities and political to living and so on and on. Everything is wonderful with him beside.’ A sweet smile appeared on her tired face.

‘Yeah, I know that. I haven’t seen that happy smiling face for twenty-three years, before you married him. Everyone can tell.’ He answered, very agreed with her feeling with Adam.

She sighed and said, ‘I probably couldn’t experience that anymore. I felt how my body works. You know better than me.’ She looked over to Fred and smile at him.

‘I told you, you will regret not keeping him beside you.’ He forced a smile with painfulness; this was really heartbreaking to him.

‘No, did I say I regret?’ she asked in reply. She appeared to be much weaker and it was strenuous for her to barely speak a word.

‘Oh, really. You don’t?’ he said with sarcasm in his speaking tone.

‘May we take a seat over there?’ She really could hardly support her own self now; she needed a seat and take a rest. The seat that she would never be able to leave with herself.

Fred nodded with worry, the most horrible and unwanted moment was about to come. Heaven was ready there for Reese’s revenant.

They sat on the chair, Reese rested her whole body worriless on the bench and said, ‘Tell Adam. I love him. Please.’ She begged and glanced up into the sky that seemed it could connect her heart with Adam’s.

‘Tell him on your own.’ He replied with a smile, not willing to pass on others’ words. He was trying to accept the truth, they were losing her, and she was ready to leave. He dropped a tear from his eye, a tear contain with reluctance and ache.

After all, there was only birds’ shrill and the sound of wind blowing, and he had never get a reply from Reese’s voice after the question.

He looked over on the dead body. Pale face and dry lips with a worriless smile. She was always smiling, all the time, no matter if she was happy or sad.

He placed a hand on her forehead. “Reese?’ he whispered calmly, seeing this coming from the beginning. He shook her again, but there was not going to have a reply.

He carried Reese with his hands under her neck and knees back inside the hospital from the back door. He put her down on the bed she would always use in the sanitarium.

‘Place a call to Adam Lycos in New York’ Fred ordered the nurse in front of the reception when he walked back to the main lobby. His eyes full with tears and redness.

‘You fine. Doctor?’ asked the newcome nurse.

‘Yes, I am alright. and please place a call to the Lycos and tell him Reese has passed.’ Another tear dropped from his redness eyes, and not wanting to delay any more minutes to tell Adam the news.
